The BACK HOME team selects a veteran with a home improvement project/need that is beyond his/her financial means, then designs, brings in contractors, completes the construction, and in the end presents the finished project to the veteran.

Concept

Home improvement shows have been a staple of TV for many decades. Our concept, BACK HOME, is unique in that we want to focus on our veterans who may not be able to or afford the home improvements that they need will result in a better quality of life for themselves and their families.

Don interviews the vet about his/her military service, personal story and the home improvement projects. They discuss the possibilities, then Don calls in the pros to design, plan, build and complete the project. In the finale, Don and the Back Home team present the veteran with the finished project.

The show combines a patriotic message with the home improvement, educational information and “how-to” skills for DIYers.

The title, BACK HOME, reflects that veterans, really all of us, hold the idea of “back home” in our hearts, and that is where our home improvement projects are. It also keeps with Don’s homey, personal, neighborhood style .

After the pilot, the series will maintain a hometown element and appeal to local viewers- “Back Home… in Cincinnati”. Beyond that, we would take it to other cities, e.g. “Back Home… in Nashville”, “… in Lexington”, etc.
